Procedure

The procedure removes or repositions the skin around the eyes, and also reinforces the musculature. Incisions are made internally through the conjunctiva, or externally in the natural folds of the skin to reduce the amount of scarring.

Initial swelling and bruising take one to two weeks to resolve but total healing time is several months before you are completely back to normal.

Risks

As in all surgeries, blepharoplasty has some small risks including:

• Excessive bleeding
• Swelling
• Discomfort

Blepharoplasty does not treat other common vision problems such as myopia (near-sightedness), hyperopia (far-sightedness), presbyopia (aging eyes) or astigmatism (folded or aberrant surface area).
